Manipulasi kekataan

Do you realise that it's easier to manipulate a situation using Bahasa Malaysia than to use English?

No doubt the English language has seen more development in relative to the Malay language and the sentence structure is more complicated at times, in every day conversation at least.

I'm not taking away anything from the Malay language. It's beautiful, its romantic even, provided that one use it to the best of what the language has to offer.

its just we tend to take for granted because we use it seamlessly in every day conversation, naturally.

But more importantly let me give you one example.

Kalau dalam BM..

Q: cokelat siapa ni?

S: mak punya kot.

Q: kalau takda orang punya, aku makan je la.

Beberapa masa singkat kemudian, adik Q masuk cerita.

A: siapa makan cokelat aku wayh?

Q: mak cakap boleh je makan. Tengok ni. Mak, boleh Q makan cokelat ni?

(mak kat dapur)

Mak: makan je la.

Q: hah, tengok, mak suruh je makan. Ko nak lawan cakap mak jadi anak derhaka?

A: urgggghh.

Now observe the same situation in English

Q: whose chocolate is this?

S: I think it's mummy's chocolate.

Q: Okay then I'm just going to eat this.

A few minutes later, Q's brother came into the house.

A: who ate my chocolate?

Q: oh mum said I can eat it. Mom can I eat the chocolate?

(mom's in the kitchen)

Mom: of course dear.

A: Mom, did you tell Q he can eat my chocolate before this?

Mom: no sweetheart.

A: you said mom SAID you can have the chocolates. Said is PAST TENSE. PAST TENSE MEANS IN THE PAST, NOT NOW! Liar! Give me back my chocolates.

Sekarang ni persoalannya S ni siapa sebenarnya? Haha.

In other note, I need to work out. I just lost an arm wrestling contest to a 10 year-old.
